We take food allergies seriously and will serve you as safely as possible by educating you and our staff on the contents of our products. Below is a statement from Bliss Dairy on their policy and procedures in dealing with allergens in their products.

Allergens

Consumer organizations representing those with food allergies recommend that we not provide a list of flavors that are free of gluten, soy, or nut products. We share their concern that someone may receive an outdated copy of such a list, which would not show the updates as ingredients change. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we suggest that you carefully read the nutritional information for our products.

Gluten allergies:

If our product contains gluten, the ingredients on the label would list “wheat,” “wheat flour,” "flour,” or other sources of gluten such as but not limited to “malt,” “rye,” “barley,” and “oats.”

Soy allergies:

If soy is used in any form, it would be preceded by the word "soy," like in "soy lecithin."

Nut allergies:

Our policies and procedures are such that if peanuts or tree nuts (almonds, cashews, chestnuts, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, hazelnuts/filberts, macadamias, Brazil nuts, pine nuts) are not listed in the ingredient declaration, then the product is safe to consume for persons with allergies to those nut ingredients. However, please know that the product is processed in a manufacturing plant that handles, stores, and uses nut products. Our nut-based flavors are typically made after the production of non-nut-based flavors and our equipment is fully sanitized daily after production.

Scooping procedure for those with allergies:

We train our employees to treat customers with food allergies in a serious and responsible manner. The following steps act as a rough guide:

  1. Once our server is aware of the allergy, we have him/her solely work with the products being prepared for that customer.
  2. The server can read the ingredient declaration for the product to the customer. Take time to select the proper flavor.
  3. Review any other ingredients that might be added to the dessert based on this same process.
  4. The server will clean a scoop at the sink with hot water and soap under the observation of the customer if possible.
  5. The server will also scoop the product in clear view of the customer if possible.

Restricted Diets

Vegetarians should read the ingredients declaration on the product to ensure that the ingredients, including stabilizers and emulsifiers, are not animal-derived. The only frozen dessert products we make that are suitable for a vegan lifestyle (one that avoids dairy and eggs in addition to meat, poultry, and fish) are our sorbets.
